In the mountains of Bolivia, a collective of Indigenous women challenge gender stereotypes by skateboarding down notoriously steep streets in traditional pollera skirts. For them, skating is more than a sport, it’s an act of resilience and reclamation.
Their passion and vision became a film. That film is now being recognized at the highest level of international sports television— and Imillaskate has the chance to represent themselves at the Sports Emmys in NYC on May 26 and at the Cannes Lions Festival in France from June 21-27.
But they need our help to get there.
Explore below and add your part to help make it possible for the Imillaskaters and film team to move this special film forward and bring their bigger dream closer: to build Bolivia’s first skate park community center and a permanent home for their free workshops and empowerment classes for women, girls, and survivors of abuse and domestic violence.
