Visionary: Gloria Chura Apaza

Location: Q'eros Nation, Peru

Focus: Traditional Weaving

Meet Gloria, weaving indigenous futures.

Q’eros women in the high Andes have been weaving for centuries—bright, beautiful patterns that hold their stories, their cosmology, their connection to the land. But that knowledge was starting to fade as younger generations moved away.

Gloria works to keep this ancient art alive by making it viable. Training young weavers in traditional techniques. Supporting women artisans to create sustainable income within their own community. And collaborating with contemporary designers who want to honor these traditions in new forms.

This isn’t about preserving something in a museum. It’s about weaving— literally and figuratively— a future where an essential, unique culture thrives on its own terms.
