Location: Namibia

Focus: Supporting Conservation Travel Foundation/Desert Lion Trust

"A simple enclosure can change the relationship between humans and wildlife—and help save the only desert lions in the world."

During a time of intense drought, the world’s only population of desert lions come into increased contact with livestock—running a higher risk of becoming a casualty of human-wildlife contact.

But our Namibian friends and partners are giving us a unique opportunity to shift this. What if, instead of feeling the need to shoot lions who threatened their herds, farmers felt supported with reliable ways to protect both at the same time?

Together we can help build 69 lion-proof enclosures that will help local Namibian farmers and villagers show the world this different, cooperative possibility—and share the ecosystem more sustainably with these powerful, adaptive wild ones.
