Building Lion-Proof Kraals

A project with Desert Lion Trust and Conservation Travel Foundation to provide lion-proof enclosures for local villagers' livestock at night—a key element to help humans avoid conflict with the world's only population of desert lions.

Conservation Travel Foundation (with Desert Lion Trust)

This project is bringing local communities and several impactful orgs in Namibia with the people who travel to see these incredible landscapes and animals—to protect the desert lions as one.
We are working to provide a series of lion-proof kraals to help support the desert lion population in northwest Namibia. Due to drought and challenging conditions, human-wildlife conflict (particularly with desert lions) is on the rise. To protect this group of wild ones, we have to work collaboratively-- funding the materials to build the lion-proof kraals that will help villagers protect their livestock at night without harming any of the lions.
