Update: 11 Emerson Vacation Journal Entry - Service
11 Emerson Vacation Journal Entry – Service
During my weeks of vacation I did two major activities that have to do with service, in both cases to my local community. My first activity was helping fight a fire to prevent it from getting to our neighbors house, which we successfully achieved. It was especially challenging because we had to work extremely fast but still really thorough. I spent around 2 hours with only a few minutes break in total raking leaves to create a fire line which was challenging because it practically was non-stop and it left my hand with a ton of blisters. This gave me some room to grow because in the process I built my team work skills and also my physical endurance, along with the knowledge I gained about how to effectively fight a forest fire. The next activity I'll be talking about was when I went to my friends farm to help him protect his crops from birds because they need the money the crops will bring them, especially in this time. This helped me grow because I was also able to learn more about corn crops and how to grow and nurture them, also I was able to practice my shot with a rifle when protecting the crops from varmint. I also worked collaboratively with my friend because he worked one section of the crops while I worked the other.
