What made me want to start the idea of MUN was mostly pass MUN’s, it sparked an interest on me as I saw the way that you can demonstrate your ability to debate. Debating is a skill not everyone has, I know I’m not the best but it definitely was fun to investigate about my country, and which issue it was involved. If you did not come prepared most likely you were going to fail or won’t win an award. The first MUN that I was involved was 9 grade, and Zuniga our social studies teacher, which made it fun, as the my first MUN was not taken seriously.
MUN are something I’ve never really felt confident about, as I panic when I am presenting or speaking in front of people. MUN may not have helped on the panic I get when speaking to people, but helps me with skill like the ability to know who to ally with, and who to attack, and it’s just a fun activity which brings together the school to do something that is not normally allowed, debate, and I consider my experiences with MUN a lesson I will remember as it took me out of that comfort zone of not speaking to a crowd or a group of people.
I was inspired to bring this idea to our community, as first Sam, the past MUN organizer, explained to me how fun it was to organize it, as well as our trip to UWC made the experience even better. I decided that I wanted to do an MUN at La Paz and help the 9 graders as I also went through the same. After the La Paz MUN we wanted to create a team or even bring Cria to compete against our MUN team. Competing against other schools is always a fun experience which I wanted to share with other schools in my community, and my own which is La Paz, but at the same time create an even better CAS project than past years, sadly this idea is always getting further to being accomplished.
