12 Emerson Challenges and New Skills

How did I feel before I took on the new challenge?

The challenge I took on in question was organizing the MUN in the first place. We had never done this yet and we had definitely not organized a project this big. It was scary, if we messed up the whole school would be witness to our mistakes. I didn’t know what the outcome of this would be and it was pretty stressful trying to figure out this challenge. On a side note, aside from my fear of failure, I was some what excited because this project was a major interest for me and I couldn’t wait until I could share my passion with others.

How do I feel after taking on a new challenge? What are the adjectives I would use to describe myself?

The task was daunting, yet we decided as a group to begin planning the best way to go about this task/challenge. Once we had a plan set, it was easy to put it into motion. The execution of the plan made me feel happy because as a group we were also growing; we were all learning how to plan and initiate an activity. This was big to me because I am a lazy person by nature and I don’t like planning stuff out, and after we had finished planning and we began to act on the plan, it definitely felt like I had grown a bit which was a good feeling, sadly though my good feeling was lost when it got cancelled. Some adjectives I would use to describe myself after the successful planning are prepared, ready and capable.

How will these skills help me in future projects?

The skills I picked up; preparedness, ready and capable, will help me tackle future projects because I will be able to apply them in the correct manner that I did in this project. These are important skills because the ability to be prepared for a project will help me in college especially because I will be able to plan how to tackle a certain task thus being prepared. I will be able to use the skill of readiness because with my planning I will be ready to confront certain difficulties associated with the task or even the task itself. Lastly, I will be more capable which means I will be able to take on harder tasks since I have already learned the skills needed to confront them.

Who helped me develop these skills? How did they help?

My group helped me develop these skills. They helped me because there was certain parts that they couldn’t do or didn’t have the right way to advance in the situation therefore I had to learn to be capable enough to address each situation accordingly when needed. They also helped me develop the skill of readiness because we are all pretty disorganized so as a group we helped create a plan which helped me develop the knowledge I needed to be ready for bigger projects.
