12 Emerson Service Entry

During this vacation we experienced a lot of damaging rainfall. In this picture you can see how high a river was. This is an important river because it flows right past our water pump which provides water to our whole community. Since there had been heavy rains the night before the water levels rose over the road and were threatening to wipe away our water pump, so me and a few other community members did the rest of our community a service by cleaning out the bridge and river letting the water levels go down and saving our water pump. This relates to planning and initiating an activity because we had to get a plan together in order to work as a team and set up various things, such as a rope the kept us from getting drowned in the river! This also relates to the global issue of floods and how damaging they can be, had we not acted we would've been with out water for a good amount of time, sadly there are people in the world who are less fortunate.
