This is day 40 of the quarantine. It’s been 40 days since I last played soccer with the rest of the team. I really miss going out in the field and kicking the balls to the other side of the field. I even miss that scary feeling when catching a penalty. Before the coronavirus arrived in Costa Rica the Campeona Costa de Oro started. We only played one game, which was against the school in huacas. We lost one autogol which I thought my teamade was going to kick out but she didn’t, and the other was a penalty, which I almost got but I didn’t.
Since the quarantine started I haven’t been able to play. But because we have a ball at home, I have been able to kick it around the house, is not the same but at least is something. Today My family was in the pool and I was not really feeling like going on a swim. However during sunset is our family time in which we leave all technology to a side and we share some time with the family. Since I didn’t want to go to the pool, I stayed by the side and started playing with the pool. I play with my sister Valerin. While she swims, I kick the pool so that she can catch it. I have been improving my kicks, not how far I kick the ball, but my aim. This is good practice because as the goalkeeper I need to be able to have a good aim in order to pass the ball to the correct player.
All this practice will help me whenever we go back to the Torneo Costa de Oro. Soccer is my passion and I can’t wait to go back. I miss my team, my coaches and just playing in general. I really think this quarantine ends before 12th grade starts, because I know by fact that It will be hard for me to make time for all the soccer games and all the school work. I know it is not impossible but it will be hard.
