Activity: Microplastics Clean-up

It's impactful to see how many microplastics can be found in a few meters on a beach. They may be confused with shells or not even seen which makes it difficult for people to be conscious about them and the damage that they create on wildlife. It was difficult, exhausting, and time taking to slowly walk around Potrero Beach collecting minute pieces of plastic. It took the group almost three hours to clean around four kilometers of the beach, however it was a great investment of my time as I got to learn about these tiny plastics that not much people know about. It was also inspiring to see young children engaged in the activity and putting effort into helping the environment by collecting microplastics.
