Amanda- Journal Entry August 9th 2020
For this vacation time between 11th and 12th grade, we are meant to write three journal entries that are about creativity, activity, and service. I took this as an opportunity to do something creative related to my new hobby that is stitching and decided to make a birthday gift for my boyfriend Max. I took inspiration from this video I saw on TikTok but decided to give it my own twist. This project took around 16 hours to complete and it all started with selecting the picture I was basing the embroidery on and painting the fabric white and red. After selecting the photo then I proceeded to trace it on a sheet of white paper that would guide me for when I started stitching on the fabric. From there I put the drawing on top of the fabric and started poking holes making my job easier when I started stitching since I would need to connect the points. Here is where the most challenging part came because stitching the points together wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Oftentimes the string would get knotted and it would take me a couple of minutes to untangling it making the process longer and more tedious than it should've been. Thankfully, I was able to finish the piece even when taking into consideration my amateur embroidery skills that have improved thanks to this small creative project.
