Amanda- Journal Entry September 13th 2020

I currently have two CAS projects, Youth Taking Action with Katherine and Cindy; and Cultural Exchange with Cindy. Youth Taking Action is still standing on its ground, which is great because other projects will have to completely change due to COVID-19. Since this would be the last trimester for this project, all three group members made a call and we brainstormed what new ideas we had taking into consideration these new reglaments we must follow. I made sure to write down all of our ideas and by using our thinking skills we head on and brainstormed. We knew that doing beach cleanings was not going to be the most appropriate activity right know since that would mean breaking social distancing rules, however, we still wanted to do something for activity. Therefore, our next plan is to go to Las Catalinas and hike for a while in order to get our body moving from sitting so much. For service we were thinking of doing a sale of some sort and making a donation to Barbara in Flamingo and volunteering for a day. For the cultural exchange project we are still in the process of fundraising. Now the trip won't be to Peru but rather in Mexico since we would get free housing from Frida. The purpose of this CAS project is to make a cultural exchange between Costarrican culture and indigenous Mexican culture. We will achieve this goal by going to different indigenous communities and learning from their culture as well as exposing some of ours. The date for this trip is going to be set for July after we graduate due to the fact that we still have a lot of funds to raise.
