Art Trip
On Friday October 8th we took an art field trip to help the 12th grade art students with their Land Art projects on the beach. The one I participated in was Benja’s project and the final project. The picture above is of the final project we all collaborated on.
How did Benja's project, creating a Karma snake, get you to think about what is right and what is wrong?
Creating the snake reminded me that all actions come back around to affect you just like the tail of the snake looped around to the head of the snake in his project. This reminded me that doing the right thing will always have better consequences than doing the wrong thing.
How do you know when you are doing something right or wrong if you believe in what you are doing?
One way to know if you are doing something wrong even when you believe in it is to keep an open mind to the opinions of peers, family, colleagues, etc. on what you are doing. This is extremely hard to do because your judgment may be clouded, and many times you will not even realize that you are doing the wrong thing until it comes back and hits you in the face. Just like Karma.
How do different cultures influence what people believe is right or wrong?
Your culture can influence your values which have a huge effect on what you believe to be right or wrong. You may not know something is wrong just because all your life you have been around people, and a culture that said it was right.
How do you live in an area where there are many cultural differences and find ways to do the right thing more often than the wrong thing?
You have to be open minded and let go of your fear of judgment. You have to trust yourself but also trust others to help you and also do the right thing when it is needed. Lastly you can’t judge others from their mistakes you just have to learn from them and help them grow from them.
