Beach Cleanup – Cata Gdvc

September 14, 2019 Terraza Beach Cleanup Today I decided to participate in another beach cleanup organized by Costa Rica Makes Me Happy and Terraza. I woke up early in order to attend the beach cleanup in Tamarindo at 8:30 am. Some new faces showed up to the beach cleanup and I got to meet new Terraza members. We started off by picking up plastic and garbage from the beach and then we decided to go to other local sites that were really contaminated. During the event, I realized that for the next beach cleanup, I think that it would be better to go to another beach that is more polluted instead of Tamarindo, because, Tamarindo has more tourists, the beach is cleaned weekly and not much garbage can be found. This is why, I think we can benefit these types of events if we organize in advance to go to another beach that needs our help. I am really grateful that I get to be a part of a group of youth that wakes up early in order to clean the beach to help the environment in which we live. I hope that in the next few weeks, I can encourage more teenagers to join this type of activities that only affect our communities in positive ways. After the event, we went to Terraza and prepared some delicious pancakes to thank everyone that joined us and helped us clean the beach. I realized that giving back to the town I live in, makes me a happier and down to earth person. I am looking up to helping my community in more creative ways!
