CAS NIGHT:
November 23, 2019
Today was CAS Night, a night where people from my class and the 12th graders got to share their CAS projects and experience with the community. I was super nervous because I hate talking in front of a lot of people and I had to present two times! During the preparation for the presentations, I was stressed because Stacy and I had been going through a hard phase with our relationship and therefore while planning our slide presentation we didn't communicate and it was a complete mess. I felt like we were not ready to present and we weren't on the same page. However, we decided to leave our problems aside and work for the same goal. I communicated with her on how I felt and I was also able to understand how she felt as well. I learned that lack of communication between partners is a huge problem because not informing the other can cause misinterpretation about something or even affect the way you feel throughout your day. Both of us were able to overcome it and start the slide all over again with a new mentality and more positiveness towards the project. The presentation of Students Sponsoring Students turned out good and we were able to maintain calm and respectful towards one another. During the presentation with Stacy, I was nervous because it was the first presentation I was performing, however, I tried to breathe and talk to the audience as if they were my friends. The presentation was a success, the community liked it and we got a lot of positive comments about our work and the event we had planned. On the other note, working with Grace for the presentation of Terraza was completely different because we have a great relationship with one another. We were able to make the presentation together and plan what we wanted to say. Since Grace and I have different ways of working and thinking, we were able to combine both our skills and make an entertaining presentation. Working with Grace is always fun and I am glad that I get to be with her in a project trying to make Tamarindo a better place for teenagers. During the presentation of Terraza, I felt like the audience members were paying a lot of attention since Grace and I were asking questions. We both felt like everyone understood our project and the journey we have been through. Overall, CAS night was a beautiful night, I got to inform my parents about my two projects that I have been working hard on. I am proud of myself for presenting two times in one night in front of a big audience and I was also able to learn about other CAS projects from my classmates and members of my community. It makes me happy that I get to be part of a community that works for a better future.
