Consider the ethical implications of our actions.
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory in which one decides good from bad by deciding through the best possible outcome for the most amount of people. Viewing the statement above through the lens of a Utilitarianist I can say I used this ethical theory when it came to creating the prototype design for the new La Paz Basketball team jersey.
When the time came to design the back side of the uniform I couldn’t decide whether or not to add last-names to the back of the jerseys. At first I tried to decide it on my own but I ended up asking the basketball team and Coach Rony. After Receiving feedback from both, I noticed there were more people that wanted no last-name. I also took into account future generations and thought about them being able to re-use the jerseys. Using utilitarianism, I saw that more people would benefit, and have their preference from having no last-names on the back of the jerseys. From this realization I came to the conclusion to not put the last names on the backs of the jerseys.
