Throughout my CAS experiences, I’ve undertaken many challenges, which have improved many of my skills. One of the main challenges was starting the general project. I knew since the beginning that it was going to be challenging and would require a lot of effort, which made me feel to a certain extent scared, especially by at the same time starting the rest of IB. However, as I started progressing, my perceptions of CAS completely changed. I kept being conscious about the effort that it took if I wanted to be effective in my project, but at the same time, rather than feeling scared, I started feeling comfortable with where my project was going, which inspired me to generate new ideas and think about what else I could do. This shows how progressing in CAS improved my thinking and planning skills, which allowed me to continue planning events and thinking of many ideas. Towards the end of eleventh grade, I did feel surprised of my progress in my project, especially after seeing how well I took the challenge of collaborating with many people. At moments I did. Feel disappointed, for example, when Covid arrived and my presentation in Santa Cruz was cancelled. Although it was out of my hands to control this situation, I felt that I lost a great chance for my project. During this challenge of CAS as a whole, I’ve gained many skills, especially the previously mentioned thinking skills and the communication skills I discussed in my previous journal entry. The effort that CAS requires has made me manage these skills effectively which has helped my with my project and in other classes as well. Learning this skills made me feel proud of my self, and at the same time, joyful by knowing that they would really help me in the future. The image below shows an example of undertaking a challenge at any moment. This weekend while I was at the beach, I saw a. Large amount of trash, so I grabbed a bag that I had in the car and cleaned up around the area where I was.
