Composting Center (bringing back the old ways)

One of the Growing a Future teaching and training opportunities for the students and community is our "composting" program. Like Gandalf and his forgotten spells, the ability for the soil to renew itself through composting and crop rotation is a secret we've either forgotten, or have chosen to ignore as growers. Instead of bringing the soil back to life through the natural process of adding organic matter and nutrients, we've replaced that natural and organically healthy process with chemical fertilizers. "You are what you eat" is more true than you know when it comes to comparing food grown organically or chemically. It is our goal through our composting program to help teach and train the next generation not only the importance of healthy soil and how it relates to creating healthy lives (and so many more benefits of this natural process), but how to make it in their own homes and gardens.
