When it comes to being creative through the lens of my CAS project, I find it hard to do. It was way easier with the Yearbook but now that we only have the Boston-Cepia Exchange project, it has become a struggle. This is mainly because when I think of creative, I think of being artistic, using colors, painting, drawing, etc. But creative is more than that. Creativity for me is also being able to solve problems, find solutions and use your imagination to come up with ideas, regarding any aspect of your life. During Christmas break we were able to go on our trip to Boston and have an unforgettable experience with our classmates, teacher and new friends. One of the activities we had to do was make a small presentation for the 20 students that will be visiting Costa Rica in February. Therefore, I created a small presentation where we showed our lifestyle, what our school is like and what we do to have fun in our country. However, I knew something was missing. So I decided to have my classmates put a little bit of themselves in the presentation in order to create a personal connection for our audience. We were able to use the computer lab of the school we were attending and work on it 10 minutes before we had to present. Yes, it was a small challenge that we put on ourselves but we overcame it. As a result, it was a wonderful moment where we got to share our lives with these students and teachers, but it was also a time for them to get to know us, our culture and our country better. Throughout the day, we attended other classes and they all wanted to see our presentation, so we ended up doing it multiple times. It was very nice to engage with many students and see how excited they were to hear about our lives from seeing all the photos and videos in our presentation. Another way I used creativity while being in Boston was by making a video for our friend Gabby that lives in Cambridge and we got to hangout with her multiple times. She had her birthday a few days before we got there so I decided to make a video displaying many photos of us when she lived in Costa Rica to remind her of the great times we spent there. Along with a small clip of our class expressing that they miss them and wishing her a happy birthday. With all of this, I was able to make the video and have everyone watch it after we sang happy birthday. It was really nice to see how happy it made her and her mom. After this amazing trip to Boston, we got back home safely. The rest of my vacation time, I did more creativity by drawing and brainstorming new ideas for my next art pieces.
