Creativity Journal Entry Spring Break

Continuing with my small waste management project in the farm as seen in the previous Activity Journal Entry, the Mayor said that we had to put a trash bin in the entrance of the farm for the truck to come collect the waste. With the help of Benito (one of the workers), we found a metal cage type object that could be used as a trash can, so we got some concrete to place it permanently and then painted it green for it to look better. This shows the creativity of working with reusable items and finding a new use for them. Also how different objects that seem useless can be used to create something that could have a positive impact. This trash bin represents a completely new style of living for these families as they will start burning their waste to start recycling and being more sustainable with the environment. It was very inspiring to see the indigenous family learn about this as well. This also represents the way in which I could continue progressing on my project and how I installed my first trash bin. This connects to the IB learner profile of inquirers as I worked with these families to find solutions and at the same time it was a way to learn about the issue in this area and think about what I could do.
