This break was full of movement, we were constantly on our feet ready to go, active and most of all enjoying it! As most people know, I am not really into exercising, at all, in fact its has always been something that I have tried to push off or ignore but things have finally changed. This break I genuinely found two activities which I enjoyed and can realistically see myself doing again!! For me this is a big deal because 1) they are the most unlikely sports that I would imagine enjoying and 2) I finally have something to channel my stress, energy, commitment, anger, happiness, etc. into something!!!
The two activities that I enjoyed most were; horseback riding and yoga.
Over the past four years I have been petrified of horses, this lead me to never riding a horse again or even petting one. I became so scared that I would cross the road or hide when I saw them, it became an instinct of mine to be scared around horses.
This all changed when I rode my first horse in 4 years. Although I wasn’t planning on ever liking horses or horseback riding, it seems to be more difficult then I thought not to. Of course I am still so scared of everything and ultra paranoid when I go but I am slowly learning on letting go of that fear and instead enjoying it.
My other activity, yoga, is a bit more challenging and I don’t have an excuse as to why I am terrible at it unlike horseback ridding and my fear of horses. I decided during this break that I needed to start yoga that way I could be more flexible, a.k.a being able to touch my toes.
I also used to think that yoga was the easiest sport ever when I was younger, let me tell you I was wrong, during the month that I have been doing it I have learnt that yoga isn’t only physical but also mental and requires lots of hard work and dedication.
So far it has been challenging to learn two new sports, hopefully this is only because I am new to it and obviously have little to no experience but I hope that with patience and practice I will be able to enjoy these activities to the max and grow with them!
