This December I was ahead of the game, by the first day of break I knew that I needed something to channel my creativity into this break. I quickly realized this would be done through drawing.
I began making sketches and coloring with all sorts of materials, essentially re doing all my work a million times until I was able to perfect it and realize what materials look best in my opinion. Realizing that its best to finish my drawing in pencil first before coloring it and gradually shading at the same time were the tricks that stuck with me.
Although I did not choose to study art in I.B, I wish that I could have had the opportunity to still keep making it during high school because of how much I enjoy creating it.
This break I drew many pieces but there are two that I am particularly prouder of; my eye drawing and the girl on fire.
The eye drawing is based off of human connection to nature; animals and the universe. Whereas the drawing of the girl on fire is based off of emotion, more so love and what it can do to someone though a series of drawings of a couple.
Both of these pieces required time, lots of time, and effort too, but also a lot of patience because somehow they take me multiple hours to draw even though they aren’t so big.
Overall even if I ended up not liking the outcome of my drawings I enjoyed making them all, it gave me time to think and relax but also to just let my brain flow.
I recommend that everyone tries out drawing small things at least from time to time to get their creative juices flowing again!!
