First Clean-Up

October 6, 2019, the first event of our project. A successful beach clean-up in Playa Potrero with around 100 volunteers. A great example of effort and organization by our project and other projects involved in planning the activity such as Connect Ocean and Abriendo Mentes. Around five kilometers of beach went completely clear of trash such as straws, bottles, caps, cans, wrappers and more. It was very inspiring to see a group of community members including families, children, and even the police grabbing bags and picking up waste for almost two hours. It was a great start for our project and hopefully the next event will be as successful as this one.
