The final step of my project is to create informational signs to be placed in the Avellanas mangrove. These signs will inform people about the true history of the Avellanas mangrove, which to me is the most important part because it’s even been on the news and they can’t get the story right of what happened, which frustrates me. I’ve even heard people say that it died because people poured chemicals into it, which is not true and infuriates me because they immediately blame my family’s business and the others around for dumping waste in the mangrove, which is not happening and was not the cause of the mangroves death. The mangrove died due to natural causes but we decided to help it come back. The signs will also talk about the project, who founded it, who has collaborated (big shoutout to ConnectOCean and Cabinas Las Olas) and what we have done to help. I also want to include ways in which they can help, or who to contact if they’re interested in the project. Overall, it’s just a brief summary of information about the mangroves and our project to help raise awareness about taking care of the environment.
