HR Project Reflection #1

One of the most difficult parts of a large project is starting it, especially if you are learning the content used at the same time. This is the case of the HR Remote Learning Project. Apart from having to brainstorm for a new project and start to learn new content for it, I also had to adapt to online learning, and the routine that will be followed probably for all of this trimester due to the current global emergency. It was difficult to understand it at first, it looked huge and like a lot of work for only the first week, however when I started to work on it, I actually figured out it was a great way of learning. This is a way to learn and understand the business content at a deeper level, as we are learning it and immediately adapting it into a real life project, and in my case a real life company. This encourages me to go deeper into it and understand it way better as it is been used in real life and I have to apply it into something real. The way it is organized in the assignments document was really helpful for me, as it is well organized and a previous step helps understand and progress into the next one. For example, it is highly effective to have the first step be learning the content by watching a video and taking notes into a mind map, this really helped me understand the dynamics of Human Resources and know what this project was about.

This project has been very effective for me to think outside of myself and my individual learning. I learned that I work and learn much better when I have a purpose behind it, for example, it was much easier for me to start learning the new content by knowing I had to immediately adapt it into the outside world. This was a great way to learn about myself and understand the way I learn. This is also a great learning experience for the future as we have engaged in assignments that will actually appear in a near future. The cover letter was very effective to learn how to write one and also to get that experience of applying for a job. It is something that will be crucial in the future alongside the video interview, which made a formal interview into a video. It was challenging, as it may be difficult to figure out strengths and weaknesses and different aspects of my life and personality, however it is great to reflect about them and know them well as it is probably something I have to know when applying for college or for a job.

In essence, this project has been in part challenging and a little overwhelming in the first week, however, it was very effective for me to learn about myself, business content, and real life “assignments” all at once. I have gained lots of knowledge and experience in just the first week, which demonstrates that this will probably happen in the rest of the weeks. It really changed my perspectives of applying school content into the real world and how it connects to myself and my knowledge.
