To start, I wanted to reflect on how the focus activities worked for me and to compare my levels of focus from the beginning of the week to the end of the week. At the beginning of the week, I was feeling super motivated, which I think made the focus activities more effective. On days where I felt less motivated, I think that they didn’t work as well. I found that the ones that worked the most effectively for me were the Pomodoro method (changed to 20 minutes fully focused, 5-minute break) and the method of memorizing information (which I used to help me study for the Bachi tests). Overall, I would say that these activities worked pretty well and I am going to try and implement them more frequently, which I think will make them more effective as they turn into my habits.
Here are some of the prompts I chose to answer:
Do you appreciate all types of feedback? Why or why not?
I think that all types of feedback are helpful as long as they are constructive rather than critical. Sometimes though, I think my emotions get in the way and I tend to not pay attention to feedback that I think wouldn’t be effective for me to implement.
Which type of appraisal do you like the most?
I like formative appraisal the most because then I can learn about what I am doing well and what I need to improve in real time as I am completing tasks. This helps me to make sure I am doing it the right way the first time that I do it, and I can also learn what skills I can focus on and develop.
