What is the purpose of my activity? Why did I choose this activity, this location, the date, and time?
The purpose of the Feria is to bring back the La Paz tradition, to help out local vendors, and to bring a sense of community back to our school. The feria gives students an interactive and beneficial afterschool activity while servicing the locals in the community at the same time. I chose to start this because I know how important this was to our school, and how much I personally enjoyed it, so I wanted to have that opportunity back each week. The location for the Feria is the same as it was before, under the Guanacaste tree on the outside. I, along with the rest of the team decided to keep the Feria on the same day and time as previously because it works and everyone was already accustomed to it, including the vendors.
Who have I had to work with while planning the activity? How did they impact the activity?
I have worked with Alex, Tanya, and Sandra who were in charge of the Feria previously. I also worked alongside the new group of parent volunteers who decided to help get it re-started, among these were Danielle, Daniela, Karina, and Diane. A part of our admin group I also had to communicate with Mr. Abel, and with Adriana and Andrea in order to get the best possible marketing and make sure everything was going according to plan. Each of these stakeholders played a role in getting the feria back up and I am so thankful for their hard work. They each impacted the project in their own way, with guidance, support, planning, expertise, and mentorship.
What was the feedback I received from my activity?
The feedback I received from the Feria was amazing. Not only I, but the whole team received wonderful results and comments from the rest of the community. The school, students, vendors, parents, and outside community were all so happy to have this tradition back, and so thankful for the hard work. Many students were happy to have the place to get their snacks on Wednesday afternoons, and I know that I was beyond excited to see this fun activity up again after so long without it.
