The meaning of CAS to me is being able to create a project that can impact at least one person, in a form of giving back to your community without expecting something in return. CAS is a great way to transition from a teenager to an adult because this project includes having an open mind set and exploring different possibilities, outside your community in order to make a change. CAS is required by the IB and the MEP because what students normally do in a school is sit on a chair and listen to the teacher explain the certain unit, but CAS is a project to form connections outside of your school, meet new people, allow yourself to create something that no one has, this project is a fantastic way to socialize and actually be educated over something that you want to learn about. I chose do the Europe Trip as my CAS project because the whole meaning of this idea is allowing a student that isn’t as privilege to having a proper education, a financial stability, the opportunity to travel, so my goal was to give the chance to a child between the ages of 14-17 to explore a part of the world that anyone would dream of going, and putting a smile on their face by giving them this opportunity, to explore the world in their perspective. Some of the resources my partner and I have been using throughout this process is a Costa Rican go fund me to collect and receive as much money possible for the trip, we are also trying to communicate to some local stores to participate in future raffles, and fundraisers. Our main goal at this very moment is to collect as much money as possible due to the large expenses needed for this trip. CAS has completely changed because of Covid-19, it has been an extremely hard year for all of us but especially those who are doing large projects in CAS. Covid is the independant variable to my project because traveling to another country is very hard nowadays, so my partner and I will always be keeping track of cases and changes in flights throughout this process. Not only our community has changed, but the entire world and how we socialize, the project that I will be doing will be extremely challenging because of this pandemic but my partner and I have all the confidence in the world to make it happen. Yes, there are many ways to start this project over summer, which is what my partner and will be doing. We will be collecting as much money possible, researching places to go visit for the trip, look at flight prices and finally finding and choosing our candidate to come to the trip with us. We will do this by dividing the work and communicating with each other about our weekly research, the pros and cons of our data and have a meeting every 2 weeks with our mentors about our progress.
Picture of you doing something that connects to your CAS project. This can show the passion that you have for the experience coming up!
