Journal Entry July 2nd

1. What is the meaning of CAS to you? Why is it something that is required by the IB and the MEP? Why did you choose to do your project? What resources are available to help you succeed?

The meaning of CAS for me is that it’s a very important project that can help me decide what I would want to do when I grow up, also a way to use my creativity, do activities that I enjoy and helping the community. I think it’s something required by the IB and MEP because we should learn to help our community and a way to earn leadership and experiences since it’s our own project. I chose to do a tennis tournament because it’s something that I enjoy doing, and I also think that it would be fun to do this type of activity since there hasn’t been many tournaments of this sport in the community. Some of the resources I have are the place, most of the equipment or materials and the tennis coaches that are willing to help me with this activity.

2. How has CAS changed because of COVID? Or has it? Have the communities needs changed? If so, how? If not, explain.

CAS has changed because of Covid the main reason being the protocols, since there can’t be a big gathering of people anymore because of the social distancing. Also because some of the needs that  weren’t so important before have become of bigger importance during the quarantine. But there are some needs that have been in the community for a long while and have earned more importance during these times.
3. Evaluate the project that you are doing. Is there a way to start the project over the summer, at least lay the ground work? If not, why? Is so, how and what will you do?

I think that I will be able to start my project during the summer because for this activity I’m doing there is definitely social distancing and there won’t be so many people per match so I would only need the time and help from my teachers. I would start by promoting the event and by start to organize how everything will look like, how we’re going to do it.
