July 3 Journal Entry

  1. What is the meaning of CAS to you? Why is it something that is required by the IB and the MEP? Why did you choose to do your project? What resources are available to help you succeed?

CAS to me is a way to work on something that I enjoy and share it with others. Some resources that I have are that I know people who would be willing to help me, I already have some experience teaching how to sew. I have taught my sister how to sew by hand and on the sewing machine.

  1. How has CAS changed because of COVID? Or has it? Have the communities needs changed? If so, how? If not, explain.

CAS has changed because of COVID, it’s a bit more difficult to organize some things, but it also made some aspects easier. Because of COVID, there are a lot of new changes from the community which means there are more opportunities for us. Especially for the service aspect, lots of people are struggling right now which means that we can find ways to help them.

  1. Evaluate the project that you are doing. Is there a way to start the project over the summer, at least lay the ground work? If not, why? Is so, how and what will you do?

I think that for my project I can definitely start. My plan is to ask some family members and friends who I know sew and do a bit more research on easier sewing machines. I researched on my computer, but I trust the opinions of people I know a bit more and I will also be looking for where to buy them and if its cheaper to buy them here of buy them in the states and ship them here because they’re pretty heavy.
