Making a Video

Over the past two weeks, I have been working on creating a promotional video for my CAS project, I wanted to be able to create a short video that captured the essence of my project and motivated people to come to participate. An issue that I have frequently come across when attempting to promote my project is that I will come off condescending and make people maybe feel bad. As sometimes the way that I deliver the issue that I plan to solve with my project is sensitive and can be direct. Overall the main reason I started is to be able to help people be more successful in math at a school that struggles to give the resources for students to be good at math. But I always come across the issue that I don't want to make either the school or students feel inadequate because that is not the case, overall the task to teach math is really hard. Overall this was an issue that I faced when making the video, where I needed to improve my ability to present the issue in a more clear way that doesn't make people feel bad because that is not my intention. In addition to overcoming that issue, I also needed to find a way to inspire people to come to math without much movement or exciting/incentivizing footage as watching people do math is not inspiring. So in my attempt to improve this, I attempted to create a background where there was math that seemed complicated and intriguing as people may become in awe of what is happening behind me on the whiteboard. I believe that this was a successful tactic as I saw the reactions of people who saw it later have the reaction I was looking for. Overall I hope that this video is useful in attracting people to come to the math help classes and that it will be able to reach a larger audience.
