My mentors are Alex Hill and Tanya Bell Rauzi. Alex is a mom at La Paz, and someone I’ve known for years. Tanya used to live here as well and was also a parent. Both of them play big parts in the community, Tanya started the Sage Brush Art Studio and Alex has always helped and supported the community in any way she can, such as her work at CEPIA. Both Alex and Tanya worked with Feria the last couple of years and know a lot about the vendors, the organization, and how things run. Although Tanya is not presently in Costa Rica she still has the passion to help out, and I have already been in touch with her. Tanya is planning a visit trip down here, and we will also be working on improving the Mural wall with all of her artistic abilities. (She has even offered to donate all the brushes and paints!!) I have already met with Alex and a bunch of other parent volunteers – it was the first Feria meeting since it got shut down because of Covid. At the meeting, we discussed how we should go about implementing Covid restrictions and ideas about Pre-ordering. I explained to all of them what a CAS project is and my mission of helping them out. I suspect most of the communication will we will have will be through text, we have already made a group chat on Whatsapp. We will hold some meetings in person to talk about logistics but the majority will be through texting. The expectations of my mentors are that they are a person I can rely on for extra support and help. Both of them have lots of prior knowledge and experience. Alex and the other parent volunteers will be doing lots of work on the Feria as well, so I am not completely alone to figure out how to make it work. I would like to dedicate myself to one specific job (marketing, vendors, covid protocols) so that I don’t get lost and end up doing nothing. I have expressed an interest mainly in the marketing aspect and have now gotten in touch with Tanya about the art wall as well.
