Mentor Journal Entry

What is your objective of the project? Do you need to explain what a CAS project is?

My objective for this project is to build a successful event from the ground up and to form positive relationships during this process, so later on in the future these connections could benefit myself and them as well. I do not need to explain what a CAS project is to both of the mentors, since both of them have had their share of experiences with these projects. This is true since Ashley Look was my sister, Anastassia’s mentor during the process of her CAS project which was the Terraza youth center, which was extremely successful. My other mentor actually, was a student at La Paz, Martina Trimarchi, who was the director of the non-profit organization, Students sponsoring students, and that project was also very successful since it helped so many students, when it came to the educational aspect of things.

How are you going to communicate with them? Email, interview, whats app?

I will be communicating with my mentors through whats app and gmail, since I have both of their numbers and emails, which is extremely beneficial in my case since they offered to really guide me, when I’m in need of help, which I really appreciate from their part. I also have spoken to my mentors privately to meet with at least one of them every week to catch up on extra details or new information about the event.

What are you planning on asking them?

I plan on keeping them updated with every step I pursue, so I can get feedback from them individually, which will lead me to success and also mentor me to efficiently take the steps needed to have a successful event.

What are the expectations?

My expectations are for my mentors to be available on our meeting days, since it is only an hour of the week to catch up on everything done so far. I also expect motivation from both of my mentors so I can show and act upon the perseverance that I think I have. During my first meeting with both of my mentors, we spoke about their expectations for me, especially when the actual hard part of making this event comes, which is to always ask for help if i’m struggling or stressed out and most importantly showing respect and trust towards them since they have way more experience then I do, which I will absolutely follow, since my appreciation towards them is uncountable.
