February 24, 2022 – Mid project update:
How do you feel about that timeline? I just updated my timeline! I have added the new things that have come to light about my project that weren’t applicable last trimester. I have a lot of work to do with the marketing aspect right now. I need to meet with Andrea and with the rest of my team to brainstorm what we can do to creatively get the project out to the community. The biggest worry right now is that fewer vendors have been showing up because of the loss of customers. It is a hard issue to fix because if there aren’t enough vendors, there aren’t many customers. And similarly if there aren’t enough customers, there aren’t enough vendors. So it’s like where to start? I think the main goal right now is to focus on promoting the Feria and letting new community members know what we are all about.
What have you done in the past couple of weeks? The last couple of weeks I have been working hard on my video!! I am so happy with how it came out and I am also hoping this can be used as a marketing tool to let the community know about the Feria. My video is bilingual so anyone can watch it and understand the purpose behind it. I’ve been posting it on all of our social media sites.
And what are your next steps in your project? My next steps are to come up with weekly marketing plans, finding ways to get new vendors involved and working on my market research plan. I think finding out what our customers think about the Feria is a good place to start to make improvements. I also need to follow up with Tatiana about the scholarship program and how to get that aspect up and running. Tatiana will be mostly in charge of this but we need to be providing the funds in order to give the scholarship kids money to buy a snack. This is to make sure that we are including everyone in the Feria. Another aspect that the Feria admin group has been thinking about is maybe dropping the charges for the vendors for the next month or two. The costs for their spots might be driving the vendors away, and we don’t necessarily need the funds for anything in particular, so to encourage more vendors each week, we may decide to stop charging them for a little while.
