What have you done in the past couple of weeks?
In the past few weeks, I have gone through the initial stages of my updated project. I started off by choosing the music for the junior solo I am choreographing. The decision of choosing the song was harder than I thought. I listened to hours’ worth of songs and narrowed down my choices, until deciding on Haze by Amber Run. As of last week, I started the choreography process and taught the dancer for the first time. In regard to my project with Hunter and Ava, we have been teaching the CEPIA kids for the past 2 weeks. Our starting date got postponed due to Covid, which messed up our entire schedule. We have two groups that are divided based on age. The groups alternate each week, with one doing hip hop and the other is doing jazz and arco. The most challenging aspect is controlling the younger kids. A lot of them are tired after an hour, get distracted easier, or want to do something else.
what are your next steps in your project?
The next step in our project is to continue teaching CEPIA kids until the end of this trimester. We are hoping that by the end the kids will be able to put on a performance showcasing what they have learned throughout the project. Additionally, we will continue to work with our junior dancers teaching and practicing their solos until the end of the dance season in May.
