Mini CAS essay

During our first few classes of CAS, we discussed and brainstormed potential CAS projects that could potentially be our projects for the next 2 years. Through these classes I achieved nothing. It’s until one day I was on the phone with my girlfriend and I told her about the stress I was under to find a CAS project I would feel passionate about, and so we started brainstorming together. We couldn’t come up with anything good so we just kept on thinking and thinking, this is when I remembered a conversation we had 10 minutes earlier about ping pong. I brought up the idea to make my project surrounding ping pong to my girlfriend and right away she said “tournament”. At this point, my brain started to put an image together of me trying to make an impact on the community using ping pong. This is when I thought of making my project a charity ping pong tournament for the community. You may say, but Charly, this is only one event, is that it? No. I’m going to be making 5 events in total, 1 event for La Paz, one event for CRIA, an event for Educarte, an event for the public and lastly a fifth event which will be a double elimination tournament to 21 between the 4 winners of each event. Each event will include a nice venue, food to buy, music, and most importantly ping pong tables (2 or more ideally). As you can tell, for me alone to organize these 5 events would take an immense amount of organization, time management skills , responsibility, communication and dedication which is exactly why I think this CAS project will help me grow tremendously as a person. organization, time management skills, responsibility, communication, dedication, are all things I will require to use in the future, which is why mastering them young can go far, from helping me grow to getting into college and getting my dream job.
