The past weeks have been very stressful for Ashley and me, we have encountered many obstacles and have managed to overcome them. One and maybe the most important obstacle was not having the tickets bought yet. However this Thursday we were so happy we finally bought the tickets, because now it if official that we are going to Boston! This week, was also out TEA PARTY fundraiser which was a success! Many kids showed up and we enjoyed an afternoon of tea and baked goods! We played games and drew! I couldn't be more proud of us for taking on this huge risk and continuing this amazing project. I know the ups and downs that we have been through this entire year and am certain that we are working hard to raise as many funds as possible for the project. As the year goes by it is evident to me how fast time goes by and sometimes we don’t really notice it. As we are wrapping up our project it feels great to know that we are making a change, even if it's a small one. It feels great to give back to the community and to have the opportunity to open doors for kids in my community. It’s great to see how we can inspire others to do the same and how people actually love to support projects like these. It is also a bit nostalgic that we will be done with CAS soon, but we are so thankful for everything that this class has taught us over the course of these 2 years. It is also extremely sad that I have about 7 more months at La Paz before I part my way into real life. I am afraid not going to lie, realizing that I have to open my wings and fly ALONE it scared me the most. However, I try to think about what I want to do before I have to leave school and how I want students, parents, and teachers to remember me for. The truth is I want them to remember me like a smiling, determined and hardworking student. I also want them to remember me as a motivated, positive and supportive captain of the tiburones Girls Soccer team. But most of all I want La Paz to remember me as a kind, caring, happy friend to all students and teachers at the School. I hope to be remembered this way through my continuous involvement in La Paz events. But also because of my work ethic, hard work, and CAS projects. My projects are very important and inspiring for our La Paz community. One being the Yearbook which everyone loves and is excited too but at the end of the year. And the other being the Boston Cepia Exchange Project which is first of all impressive that two Scholarship students are trying to continue. This is why I think we will also be remembered by our CAS projects because up until now, students, teachers, and even parents have come up to me to thank me and to congratulate me on my projects. So I think that when I leave, people will still talk about the beautiful cover of the 2018-2019 yearbook, and the amazing job these 2 scholarships students did to raise more than 3000 dollars.
With this said, I couldn't be more thankful for my CAS experience and the class in general because I feel like this class is the only class that really prepares you for the future. In this class, you learn and grow so much as a person and as a student. You discover yourself each week through reflections and just how motivated you are in continuing your project. You struggle, you struggle a lot throughout the process, but in the end, it is all worth it. It’s all worth it when you see your hard work and dedication start to pay off. In CAS you learn to communicate effectively with authority, business, and classmates. This is something very important that I will use in the future because anywhere I go I will have to communicate effectively and learn to be patient with people. Something I will use in the future that I learned from CAS is the ability to work collaboratively with others. I was very lucky to choose the partner I developed my CAS project with, thankfully she is great and we get along very well. However, I know that in real life I won’t always have the chance to choose my partners, so I have to learn to work with different types of people. My CAS projects are something I am extremely proud of. They both portray me as a hard-working, diligent, motivated and persistent person. They show how well I can work in long term tasks and how proactive I am at short term ones as well. They show how well I develop, create, plan and initiate events as well as illustrate the type of leader I am. In future jobs or colleges, I will share my incredible CAS experience and make sure to outline all that I’ve learned from my CAS experience.
