Update: My Reflection on The competition
My Reflection on The competition
Throughout my first trimester of CAS, I have participated among others in the Wharton Global Youth Program. This is a world-renown competition that brings thousands of young investors together to compete. Entering this competition I was scared of what I didn't know. I wasn't confident in my ability to make informed decisions and buy stocks that could be profitable. Although I was excited to compete as this is what I want my career to look like. Right now we are in the middle of the competition. Surprisingly we have done quite well, although you don't win from a return percentage we were within the top 30 for a few weeks and now are only just outside of the top 100. I have surprised myself with the success of our group. I have been vastly impressed with the decisions Ava and I have made to be successful. It has been an experience to remember and definitely was an experience of value. I was able to understand more of what I need to work for and was given an opportunity to learn and I definitely did. I have developed the ability to research companies and make executive decisions on whether or not to buy them. The next step is to finish out the competition and try to develop a strong strategy and learn more in the next few months. Then hopefully in the future use this experience to understand the competition and prepare a group of students to do extremely well the next year. This experience has been a great and fun way to learn. And as we start to incorporate my CAS project into Monday night activities next week I want to look at the balance sheets of Apple and Alphabet as they are two out of companies in the Standard and Poors 500 with a AAA rating on their finances.
