Newman Soccer

As part of my Activity, I am on the Newman soccer team and have been recently been made a captain. I am one of four seniors on the team and so have taken a large leadership role even though I am new to the team. We haven’t won a game so far but our practices are going a lot better.

Before the season I helped to organize captains’ practice with the players from last year. I lead team warm-up and stretches before games and practices as well as hold lunch meetings before games. I am able to use my Spanish to help communicate because there are a few kids who speak it as their first language.

I also am learning how to be responsible for people who are a similar age to me which is an important skill to develop.
