October 10-11: Model United Nations

Last Thursday and Friday we were given the opportunity to participate in the Model United Nations hosted by the United World College in Santa Ana. I'm not sure how to properly begin to explain how much I enjoyed this experience. At first I was nervous because there was no-one that I knew in my committee, but everyone that I was with was really nice and all ended up being my good friends. Everyone there was so accepting and open to learning more about me, which made me feel really included. We got to work together to solve problems in the world (well, not quite. our committee ended up with the USSR starting a nuclear war.) and it was really fun to get to know everyone there. I think that I actually enjoyed doing it with people that I didn't know more than if I was doing it with people I knew. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me courage to put myself out there. I hope that I can go again next year to see everyone at UWC. Learning Outcomes: -Demonstrate engagement with issues of global importance -Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
