This weekend I helped plan an adoption event for Barbara. I worked and was able to post on Facebook about the event. I also was fostering four puppies this week. It was more work than any of the other puppies I have had to foster. It was especially challenging because there was four of them instead of the normal one or two I am used to. The event ended up being a great success. There was a huge amount of people that showed up.  We even had a puppy adopted. To adopt a dog from Barbaras you have to do a few things. Firstly, you have to be approved by Barbara. This sometimes consists of an interview and a visit with the dog. If that goes well you also need to pay a fee of 50,000 colones ($100). This covers a spay/neuter, vaccinations and Barbara’s cost to pay for all the dogs and cats. Then the people that are adopting the dog are able to take them home. This process works very well to make sure less dogs are brought back to Barbaras shelter. This weekend I was able to help with an adoption since the dog getting adopted was one of the puppies I was fostering. I asked the interview questions and was even able to help make the decision about whether or not the person was a good fit to adopt the dog. Luckily the family that adopted the dog was great and they were able to take the dog home that afternoon. I am also doing another adoption event this Saturday. I am very excited and hopefully it goes well.
