Planning and Initiating

Planning our presentation: For the planning process of my presentation, I felt like it went okay. We could have improved on the communication aspect however. When we presented to the 5th grade class, I was not aware what day we were going to present until the day before, which did not give me much time to practice. We also failed to keep in mind we are a bilingual school and should present bilingually too so we had some struggles with translations as we presented. Other than that, it went well, we prepared our slides early on and made sure the vocabulary was not too complex for their age while still being educational. I also think we did well at keeping their attention and focus during a majority of the presentation. The purpose of our presentation: The purpose of this presentation was to educate the 5th graders. We chose the 5th grade because we had spoken with the teachers and BEST team who thought it would be a good idea to talk to them about it since a lot of the kids in that class in particular are neurodivergent. We were there to teach them about what it means to be neurodivergent and that it is nothing to be ashamed of nor does it affect you as a person. We spoke to them and answered all of their questions about it. They were pretty curious, which was great because it gave us the opportunity to talk to them about the aspects that interested them the most. Who I have been working with: I have been working with Isa, who is my partner for this project and we have been presenting, researching, and preparing together for everything. I am also working with mr. Mathew who is a part of the BEST team which is a support team for students who need it, he has gone over our presentations with us and given us tips and critiques to improve our presentation. We have also worked with mrs. Amy who is our CAS teacher and has led us through the entire project, she has helped us plan everything and stay organized throughout the entire project.
