The Gradual and Organic Development of Research Studies

Jenny just completed a followup visit, with filmmaker Craig, to the coastal honeybee nests she had found in De Hoop Nature Reserve 1 yr ago. With no formal research permit at this point and no funding for the visit, Jenny relied on her friend, Dr. Odette Curtis, who started the Overberg Renosterveld Conservation Trust (10 km from De Hoop Nature Reserve) for accommodation. She worked with a very keen ranger, Naz, whom she had met the year before and at the conclusion of her visit, De Hoop Collection (a private concession in the reserve) asked Jenny to set up a formal research project. Though swamped with her current work elsewhere she is keen to study these incredible wild honeybees and the impact of the full moon and spring tides on these nests.  The organic growth of relationships, reciprocity and knowledge sharing continues.
