This week I had to show a lot of commitment in fostering and training a puppy. I am fostering a six month puppy from Barbara’s shelter with the goal to train him. I have been introducing him to cats and potty training him, which is taking a lot of perseverance. He is very hard to train since he has a very stubborn personality. I have to stay committed to training him because I know that if I can persevere then he will eventually be trained and then have a better chance of getting adopted. I also have had to teach him basic commands. I have taught him how to sit and state which is also very important for many potential adopters. The training is hard and I have to stay committed otherwise he will not properly learn. It is also my responsibility to take him out at night and in the morning on long walks. I have to wake up at five in the morning every morning to take him out before I can start my morning routine. I also get an hour less every night to do things like watch tv and talk to friends since I now take him to the beach or creek every night. This type of commitment is very hard, but very important if you want a well trained and socialized dog.
