Over the past few days on break I have gotten in a bit of a situation, as one of my neighbors began complaining about me playing basketball at certain times. To say the least the whole situation has been exhausting. However, there has been a surprising bright spot to it all. One day I was in the pool after a workout and my family heard a knock at our gate; we opened it to see an unfamiliar face, it turns out it was an older man he was one of our neighbors Mr Lyle. He began by saying that he has seen the entire situation unfold at the park and that he hears every bounce of the basketball, and that he loves to hear it. Furthermore, he brought documents from the Home Owners Association of the neighbor hood where I live stating that I was allowed to play basketball at the times another neighbor was complaining about. Even more so he said that if I ever wanted to play at a certain time that I could knock on his door and he would come and sit with me and incase that the particular neighbor came down to scream at me (which happened before) that he would be there to defend me. The whole situation made me feel appreciated and that there were people that believed in me and the work I was putting in.
After Mr Lyle left my parents began talking to me saying that he may be lonely especially at these times and that I should whenever I can, go knock on his door and talk with him or bring him down to the courts to hang out with me. Now, in the future I know to attempt to make an effort to interact with my Mr Lyle if he is indeed lonely as it is the nice thing to do as he had done to me. Through this process I have learned the importance of taking care your elders and moving in life I know to at the least have a conversation with them whenever I can.
