Skills

What skills have I developed in this project, how will I continue to develop them, are they useful? This will all be answered today in. the journal entry. Throughout this project, I have most certainly developed new skills the most prominent being analysis/critical thinking, perseverance, and teaching. Firstly I will talk about critical thinking and analysis. These skills have proven essential for the Wharton Global Youth project. I have learned to focus my existing analysis and critical thinking skills to make educated decisions of trades to be made. I plan to improve this skill over break by taking an MIT investment class to understand actual strategies that can be used. As well as just through business class because that will improve both my research and critical thinking skills regarding companies.  I am teaching myself this through trial and error, help from family, teachers, and more. I don’t know if there is a way to speed up this process up, basic knowledge can be taught faster but the ability to have an expert level of analysis and critical thinking for companies requires time and experience. Secondly, I have developed the skill of perseverance and reflection. This project has been difficult and far from perfect, from this I have developed a stronger ability to reflect on what is going and therefore understand what I need to fix. This has also improved my ability to persevere as I need to make sure that I actually follow through on fixing the holes where I see them. This is a skill I feel isn’t something that you can easily teach yourself but instead, you have to stay strong and develop the ability to adapt under difficult circumstances. Therefore I just need to continue to push myself and believe that I can do it, continuing to improve and make sure my project is at its highest caliber. Lastly, I have improved my ability to teach. This one has been difficult as I learn and understand at a much higher pace than most people. I have had to catch myself as I try to teach becoming more aware of the speed I teach, making sure that it is engaging, making sure that what I say makes sense. And let me tell you it has not been easy especially online. I have had to change my ways of teaching to be more visual, more concise, and having to listen to the feedback of my students. I am learning this with help from teachers and feedback from my students I hope that I will be able to improve over time but overall it is a skill that will improve as time goes on. These skills are all essential, analysis/critical thinking in regards to business is essential for the future of my career, perseverance is essential as it sets you apart from others and teaching allows me to become more of an asset to society as I can share what I know. Overall all of these skills will be super helpful and I am extremely happy with the way that this trimester of CAS has gone.
