Summer Creativity Reflection _ Grace Herman

August 28th, 2019

This summer I decided to engage and challenge myself creatively in a new and different way. This upcoming year I am starting IB art. I have never been very good at drawing and IT will be a critical time where my drawing skills will be pushed to their limits. Therefore I decided to pick up a few skills before we started the year. Over the summer I have been taking a drawing class every Saturday morning for two hours. I’ve got to be honest, I don’t love it. I really don’t enjoy drawing but I have learned a lot and personally believe I’m getting better. The first class we started easy drawing 3D shapes. At least I thought it’d be easy. It’ way harder than you would think. I couldn’t get them to lay right on the page and I spent the whole two hours on this one drawing and I still wasn’t quite done. As the weeks have gone on we have continued to practice drawing 3D shapes. I haven’t mastered it but I have improved. We have also worked on drawing animals and landscapes from piecing together these shapes. I don’t always look forward to the class but I know I’m getting better so I’m willing to stick with it. Hopefully, by the end, I’ll have enough basic skills to make IB art a little easier.

Thank you for reading,

Grace
