Summer involvement with CAS – Catalina

23/8/2019 CREATIVITY Before starting IB I needed a fresh start and a good environment to be able to do my homework in. I always felt like my room wasn't the type of space I would do my homework because it didn't give me good vibes and I just didn't like the space. This summer I decided to do something about it! When I was little I painted my room pink and now that I've grown up as a teenager I didn't like that color anymore. As a crazy teenager one day this summer, I just decided to paint and decorate my room so that my room could feel more of somewhere I would want to study in. It was a lot of work and I was able to learn a lot from this creative experience, I was able to learn that changing things up and letting go of a negative environment can lead to new beginnings that can make you a better person. I painted my whole room gray and one wall light blue and this changed my perspective when I enter my room because now I do have the energy to want to keep it clean and to study in it. I used my creativity because from an environment I didn't want to be in, I was able to decorate it and paint it into an area that I now use 24/7. In the decoration part, I decided to hang up some inspirational quotes that will motivate me to be a person and to do the best I can in IB. IB is going to be a really big challenge, but I feel more prepared because I know I can count on my room to do cool projects and to feel that I have a safe zone. I put a desk and a whiteboard to be able to stay organized which is something that is going to help me because in chaos I usually make everything a mess and hope that with these tools I'm able to stay on the right track and not get lost in the middle of hard experience. It was super fun to redo my room because I also had time to understand myself as an artist and the interests I have in the art industry. I'm really glad I used my creativity because not only did I get ready to feel stronger for HL Art but I also created a super-strong bond with my mom while doing things we both enjoy. It was a challenge but I learned to be patient and to enjoy such little things that make a huge difference in one's life. Identify strengths and areas for growth, challenges were undertaken showing that new skills are learned, work collaboratively with others.
