Service For Service this Summer I decided to do a beach clean up at the south side of Potrero Beach. Ever since they have started building the marina in flamingo the terrain of potrero beach has changed and a whole bunch of trash washes up right next to the marina. I decided that This would be a perfect service that I can do for my community and It almost directly connects with my CAS project because My CAS is about conserving and protecting our oceans and our ocean life. Cleaning up the beaches in our community will do just that, Protect and conserve our oceans. During the cleanup I completely filled up my trash bag, the most common trash I saw was cans and boat parts like fiberglass and plastic pieces. This beach cleanup connects to learning Outcome #6, Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance. I chose #6 because I am definitely engaging in a global issue, pollution. I am contributing to helping the global issue by seeing a change in the beach closest to me and taking action by cleaning the beach. The IB learner profile trait that would relate to this service is caring because I'm seeing a negative change in my community and caring about the outcome so I am going out and making a positive change to counteract the negative one.
