The activity aspect of this project was the most challenging part for me because I had to find a unique idea that provides movement and at the same time giving back to my community. For this part of the summer journal entries, I wanted to do something simple but also have message behind it, in which led me to make certain baked goods, such as cookies, brownies, cupcakes and more and pass them around all of Tamarindo, to show some gratitude to those that I know or don’t know. This experience was very much out of my comfort zone but was definitely rewarding. During acting upon this idea, I have realized that this has truly made me a better person when it comes to discussing with new people but still keep a safe distance and really understand that showing your gratitude to others will lead into something positive in return, which was putting a smile on people's faces for me. A learning outcome that has truly grown within myself due to this idea has been to identify my own strengths and develop areas for growth, this is true because as a 16 year old female student, it can be very hard to talk to new people and not take you seriously which has been the case in some occasions but it has really increased the amount of skills and abilities that I have due to conversing with new people, listening to new perspectives, socializing but still keeping a safe distance and more, this activity really made me a better person and I am extremely grateful for it. This specific activity connects to the IB learner profile traits such as communicator because interacting with people you have never met before is very stressful because you don’t know what to expect, but once that fear is taken down it really opens your mind to different views of the world and how others think. Another characteristic of the IB learner profile that has connected with this activity has been risk taking, this trait has been a very large involvement to this activity because it takes a lot of courage to go up to a stranger, and have a conversation with them, sometimes you don’t know what to say or you might say something that would offend them, these are the sort of things that went through my mind every second of this activity but once I got the hang of it, I felt extremely confident and showed a lot of courage within myself to meet all these new people.
